Fantastic. The hosts were wonderful.

Great location, near to town and the rock chimneys.

Lovely garden that produced fresh fruits and vegetables. Charming 150 year-old house.

Home

The hosts;their warmth. The food. Where else can you be given a masterclass in foraging mushrooms on the mountain-siide and then be served mushroom omelette for breakfast. Arranging onward travel. Everything written about 'Ashot Shalunts' by previous reviewers is true. Wonderful.

The owners welcomed me with genuine hospitability and shared useful tips about Syunik province. The bed was comfortable, the homemade vodka was strong and the cooking was one of the best I had the luck to taste in the whole Caucasus region. Wholeheartedly recommended.

I never write reviews, but I’d love to make an exception for Ashot and Alvard. I had an amazing time in Goris due to them! Very hospitable and they offer everything you could wish for to enjoy your time. Ashot offers tours, he really takes the time to show you not only Tatev etc, but also hidden gems in the area. I highly recommend having dinner as well, because the food Alvard makes is simply amazing! And most of the ingredients from their own garden, just like the vodka they serve you, which is great.

Great and very helpful owners, tasty food, better than in some of the capital's restaurants. Ingredients from the local garden. Nice and spacey room, cool and simple design, toilet outside. This house is 150 years old. Convenient location near the center. Waking distance to the caves (Goris part). Tip: this is real house where people do live. You will have an opportunity to talk to the owners, drink tea, socialize. Note: shaking bridge is in the next village, Khndzoresk, you need to take marszrutka or car to get there. Note: The Legends trail goes through Goris (Khndzoresk to Kapan, 150 km), good stuff for hikers. Before you start trekking ask local people about the current situation near the boarder. Some parts of the trail get really close to the boarder and may become uncertain. I skept some parts not far from Kapan.

Lovely hosts

Ashot and Alvard are the best hosts that you can imagine. When I arrived, Ashot showed me how he makes Vodka. They have a beautiful garden where they plant all kinds of vegetables. Alvard prepares incredible delicious food, so if you stay, taste her dinner! You can also practice some frensh with Alvard. For me this was the only way to communicate with her, and she is very communicative :). When I left, they helped me with finding a shared taxi and brought me there by car in the morning. Ashot also offers tours to nearby sights like Tatev. The good thing is, they are not forcing you to do a tour, and honestly tell you that there are also public Busses to other sights (not Tatev) that are of course much cheaper. I stayed a total of 5 days here.

The bed was a bit too short for me (> 180), but this is quite common problem here.

One of the highlights of my trip. Was sad to leave the place. Loveliest host. Welcomed by home made ice cream and pastry and coffee. Delicious vegetarian dinner - perhaps the best meal I had in Armenia! Arranged my next stay when I had to leave to another hotel in Goris. They also have a car to take you on trips if needed.
