Cosy, comfortable, country style rustic cottage. Had everything we needed for our weekend stay.
✓ We were three friends who were visiting York for a tournament so we found Hillside Retreat cottage perfect for its locality (edge of town but felt like the country). We were warmly welcomed with a roaring woodfiredburner heating the house. It was super quiet, beds were comfortable, showers were hot, very relaxing. Good value for the price we paid.
✗ We would have liked some fire starters to get the burner going faster in the morning. There was kindling and plenty of wood but although we are competent, it took us a while to get a blaze going in the morning but could have put on the perfectly adequate reverse cycle heating in the living ro
