✓ Good
✓ People always there when you needed something. Both privat and feeling like you're connected to the lively street outside. Light, airy room upstairs. Nice breakfast. Cat with 3 kittens.
✗ One of the smaller rooms I stayed in. Some construction noises from the building next door.
✓ Central location gave easy access to river, restaurants and attractions. Staff were friendly and helpful. When a nearby restaurant 'stood over me' for a US $15 for which their machine refused payment, Prantara promptly and immediately came to my assistance.
✗ I found a general complacency in Cambodia about customer service, a tendency to say no and leave it at that. Although I occasionally met that at Prantara, a little prompting usually brought a successful outcome, for example when drinking water or coffee had not been provided to the room. The air conditioner seemed a little underpowered but it had to contend with some ferocious warm conditions.
✓ Spacious room. Funky interior
✓ Nice colonial building, comfortable room
✗ Staff not helpful and just answered every question with "no English" The owner spoke English and when I asked for a drink at his bar restaurant area he simply answered "out of stock" even though a Dutch couple were enjoying breakfast and tea, very disappointed
✓ I quite much enjoyed the place. The staff was helpful. One spoke fluent english and was a minutes phone call away to serve for certain situations. English was limited with others, even down to only knowing a few keywords such as "shower broken", "laundry" etc. But I got by with googling pictures, using body language and a bit of subbornness to get a certain request full-filled. It worked :) Smartphone is not so helpful in this country, since cambodian language is not translated in it, neither translated on google. Staff helped with booking bus ticket and transfer to Vietnam. All felt kinda smooth at my staying, despite the language barrier. The place also felt freshly decorated, although being an older house. The air in the room and place was good. I asked to not have air-refreshner, and felt no bad smell, even though it is an old house.
✗ Had to ask, since there was a need to switch a switch in the shower down by the floor, to make the other switches work for the water to run... It also needed to be turned off so that water would not leek. No problem, once I knew the existence of it, though. And I warn about the following, which is all from my imagination, but somehow I did not get the "clean-feeling" from the sheets. They did not look dirty and did not smell bad! But the thing is that if I didn't get the clean-feeling - then were they clean? Or had they not been changed? Any traveller with this knowledge could ask them to change if they get the same feeling.
✓ the room design itself was very nice, comfy bed, shower temperature was good. staff very friendly.
✗ AC in my room didn’t work very well at all, was on the lowest temp and still blowed up mid temps.
✓ The staff was nice, the room was ok, would use again.
✗ Tv didn't work.
