Best Western Jaco Beach All Inclusive Resort

Nice resort with great cocktails and beach access.

Economical stay in a beautiful place, but the tours leave a little to be desired

✓ Each meal was solid and had lots of variety, ESPECIALLY if you like meat—there was always one of each option for dinner (fish, beef, pork, and chicken). The staff everywhere is excellent. And yes, it really is all-inclusive, even the alcohol. The room itself is nothing special, but that's not really where you're staying most of the time anyway. The beach is pretty nice, although somewhat sketchy when it's dark. The surrounding area is pretty bland and surprisingly expensive, but it at least seems relatively safe.

✗ The tour service they use is frustrating. When the woman at the front desk is there, she's great. However, scheduling tours otherwise is a pain; it doesn't help that the descriptions are vague and the tours are more expensive than the cost of the hotel room. Twice, my tour for the day was cancelled/rescheduled, and they didn't tell me until AFTER the pickup time (which is bright and early in the morning). While the drivers and tour guides are awesome, their boss who's in charge of collecting payment is a jerk for no reason. One very minor complaint I have about the facility itself is that there isn't a bar in the pools. If they added this, I'd give them 10 stars despite the tours.

✓ I haven't been to this resort since I was a teenager. I decided to stay there for nostalgic reasons. In some way it felt like stepping back in time - with a few upgrades :) Good value for the money, great pool and location! Also nice to have an all inclusive option in Costa Rica.

Very pleasant stay, made all the better by super pleasant and efficient staff

✓ breakfast, lunch and bar facilities and staff were very good. Dinner was typical buffet style - not massive choice for vegetarian types, but I find this typical of hotel buffets. Liked the provision of ice cream for dessert choice. The hotel didn't stint on food provision and the fruit was fantastic

✗ The draught beer in the bar wasn't the best. Again, this is a thing I find with most all inclusive hotels. Would have been nice to have a fridge in the room as well - maybe it would be available for extra charge??

Still a nice place to stay, but the quality of the food has definitely fallen.
