Melia Ria Hotel & Spa

Good for a short stay

✓ Decent hotel for a rather short stay to explore Aveiro and its surroundings. Not directly in the city center, but the walk isn’t long. Part of the hotel feels a bit dated, and it’s rather a conference hotel than a vacation hotel. Overall totally fine, but don’t expect to be wowed.

✗ Elevators not working from time to time; room was a bit loud due to music being played outside (Friday night)

Great hotel, location, and pool!

✓ The hotel was nice, the facilities were in good condition and the staff was helpful. The location was a bit outside the center but walkable to everywhere. The pool was great, especially the hydro-massage features!

✗ Most of the staff were very helpful, but a couple times they seemed bothered by our requests. It wasn't the end of the world, but it felt like we were putting them out to ask for help with booking a taxi or with getting some of the toiletries in our room refilled.

✓ Facilities and rooms were very nice, staff very kind and professional.

✗ It was pricier than expected. The booking reservation from mobile app did not offer me the best price for the room. I have reserved 2 rooms afterwards on the laptop and found better price. This is not really acceptable for booking... Also it was pay now and non refundable on the mobile app. The later booked 2 rooms from the laptop had smaller price, possibility of cancelation without fee and pay later possibility. Even though this might be explainable, I find it unacceptable for a "genius 2 level" member... It feels like booking from my account is pricier and pay now without cancelation vs. booking from unknown account. about the hotel: difficult spa access, only with reservation (this is a good thing), but finding an hour to use the pool was terribly difficult... Breakfast had no vegetables at all (tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, salad, etc.). All the rest was very good.

comfortable place to explore Aveiro

✓ very nice modern building with fantastic views of the canal. rooms are good sized, beds very comfortable. The restaurant and bar have a nice menu and tasty food. having a spa and underground parking was also nice. and it is dog friendly (for a fee)

✗ my dog was only allowed in the room not in any common areas. the spa had a jacuzzi but it was just warm and required bathing caps which we had to purchase. we made a reservation expecting a small number of guests but it was packed.
