Cozy place near Copper Canyon

I liked the general vibe, feels bit like a mountain cabin. Theres a porch outside the room to chill. The owner was friendly, gave some tips around the area (e.g. the bus schedule - there’s little info online). Looks like family run. Free pickup from Chepe was included. They serve dinner (home made meal) for extra charge, and breakfast (included). They offer shuttles and tours though I didn’t use it. There’s a store for common things just cross the road. And they do have Wifi (the description says they don’t- must have updated recently).

There was no hot water, but I noticed too late in the evening and had to leave early morning. I’m sure they would have fixed it quickly - so I’d advice to check right after check in🙂 Also the booking.com listing shows the location a bit off - check Google maps. It’s a bit further of the few main streets (15min walk). I didn’t have problems walking down to one of the trails. If staying for longer you’d need to figure transport (walking around will not be convenient).

Met my needs perfectly

Very Clean Room and common areas. Convience store across the street. Shuttle to and from train station was very nice. Reasonably priced tours. Also offered shuttle/taxi rides for fair price. Was able to walk and hike to many locations near by. Wifi was offered for a small fee, but only available in common areas, not in the room. (Was able to get cell service signal with my US cell phone plan). Heater worked great for cold nights. Breakfast and other meals were simple but good. Visited in off season, but still a few restaurants nearby were open for options. Only 6 rooms, don't hesitate to book!

Meals could have been larger portions. Fair price, but did find better options at other restaurants near by.

Fabulous

Friendly owners who were patient with weak Spanish (they didn't have any English that I could tell). It was basic and relaxed and clean. Good heat in the room and hot water. Friendly on-site pets :-) Let us hang our hand-washed clothing on the line in the sun. Walk 15 mins to "town" of Areponapuchi for dinner at the one restaurant we could find. Went back again the next night, loved that lady. Little market right across the street. Also bus to Creel stops at the market. The owner is willing to do taxi service if you arrange in advance - we finished a hike at Hotel Divisadero and arranged for him to pick us up there after dinner. When we took longer at our hike than expected, they called to make sure we were ok!

Unclear how we would have eaten dinner if we had not found the place down in town, although we certainly could have asked the proprietor to make dinner for us and I assume she would have. We did eat dinner at the Hotel Divisadero one night, had a cocktail view, and the owner picked us up afterward at a time we set.

Arepo and the Barrancas

The owners are lovely people and very knowledgeable about the area. Breakfast was good, and so were the dinners. The bus to Creel was right in front of the nearby store, which even stocks proper coconut water! The adventure park was a taxi ride away. All in all, a good place to stay!

From an overall perspective it seemed kind of expensive, but Arepo exists purely for tourism. This wasn't even remotely close to being the most expensive place to stay, so I saved quite a bit staying here.
