✓ Peaceful location, central to the area I wanted to explore, very well equipped and homely
✗ No private outdoor space, but I knew that because I've stayed there 3 times previously!
✓ The cottage was nice and homely, with a comfortable living room, dining room/kitchen, and bedroom. The kitchen had excellent cookware, all dishwasher friendly. There was a folder with information about the Lake District, as well as manuals for all the appliances. I particularly liked all the lighting options in the house. It was a nice, quiet area, with allocated parking and a bus stop a 2-minute walk down the road. Very close to Ambleside and Wray Castle, only short drives away. Lovely views with some great country walking paths nearby.
✗ I stayed during a particularly warm Spring and the bedroom on the top floor often got hot - I had to keep the upstairs window open all the time I was home to keep it cool. It would be good to be provided with a standing fan during the warmer months. The refrigerator was not as cold as I would have liked - I put my meat items in the freezer just in case.
✓ The location was excellent, more than expected. I found the area very peaceful and serene and the locals I met and spoke with were very nice.
✗ The only thing that the owners need to change is the smoke alarm in the kitchen and replace it with a heat alarm. I do EICR’s on properties as it is my profession and there should be a heat alarm in the kitchen not smoke alarm that keeps going off when doing toast etc…
✓ Brilliant cottage. Lovely location
