Friendly and quiet Dar in the heart of Sousse Medina, with an amazing driver/tour guide!

✓ Location was perfect down a quiet street in the Medina (only outside noise was the Call to Prayer from the nearby Mosque). Restaurants outside of Medina only a short walk away. The staff was incredibly welcoming, the Dar is gorgeous and the included breakfast is a true feast! On top of that, the day of my arrival, my driver (more on him in a minute) decided to stop at a fish souk in Monastir after touring the town before checking into the Dar. He bought some fresh fish and called the Dar to let them know. Within an hour of checking into my room, the staff had prepared an amazing lunch for me with this fish! Perfect considering the Dar does not have a full restaurant outside of breakfast. As for my driver, that is where this Dar really made my trip to Tunisia perfect! I had a very good idea of the itinerary I wanted during my time in country, but it just didn't seem to align with any tour options I was able to find online. I was very close to just deciding to rent a car and figuring it out myself (after seeing Tunisian drivers, the difficulty in finding parking and how less than reliable Google maps was here, I'm so glad I didn't do this!), but decided to send an email to the Dar to see if they could help me arrange a driver or tour guide that met my itinerary. They responded so quickly, made a couple suggested changes to my itinerary which were great, and then had a driver confirmed to pick me up from Monastir airport all for a very reasonable price. I cannot be more thankful for this Dar is helping arrange everything for me! I also cannot review this Dar without also providing a glowing review for my driver/guide, Mahdi. He was promptly awaiting for me at the airport and immediately he felt more like a friend showing me his country rather than just a guide there to do his job and drop me off. He showed me all the sights I wanted to see, but more than that, gave me so much information and insight into the country in an engaging and entertaining way!

✓ Wish I stayed longer! The hotel itself is beautiful, the room is exquisite, the breakfast is an absolute treat, and the service (especially Linda!). The guide recommended to me by the hotel, Mahdi, was also amazing and I appreciated getting to visit el Jem and the “real” Kairouran during my stay. I can’t recommend this Dar enough; it’s in the heart of the Medina and close to the sights of Sousse yet still relaxing and peaceful.

The most beautiful and wonderful stay

✓ Dar Lekbira was absolutely wonderful to stay at. It is even more beautiful in person compared to the photos, and it does a great job of balancing the traditional riad with modern amenities. There were lots of small touches like two teas (calming and digestive), rose water, and organic handmade soap in the room - the attention to detail made it special. I had a suite upstairs with a balcony, next to the stairs that go to the roof (a nice sitting area in itself). Everyone I met at Dar Lekbira was kind, personable, and helpful with any question that I had. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful - and slightly different each day. The location being in the medina is great because it made going out and about easy at any time of the day - very convenient. I would recommend anyone going to Sousse to stay at Dar Lekbira, as it definitely made my first visit to Tunisia comfortable and memorable.
