Set 30 minutes from Lanquín, 45 minutes from Semuc Champey, Mountain Nest provides an accommodation in a remote mountain setting outside of Lanquin.

✓ Mountain Nest was by far my fav accommodation in Guatemala. Thank you Darina and Remy for your hospitality, yummy meals, chocolate tour, creativity in setting up the cabin and sharing your slice of heaven with me. For those who enjoy solitude, nature, introspection, where you can build a connection with yourself or a loved one above the clouds - this place is for you. I miss it already and plan to be back if I am in Guatemala again. THANK YOU!
✗ nothing I can think of
✓ One of the best views I've seen during my trip to Guatemala. The place was clean and well-kept. Remy and Darina were incredible hosts. They were friendly and very helpful with anything we needed. We even had supper at their house on our last night. We decided to get breakfast, lunch and dinner from them since everything else was out of the way. The vegetarian meals that they prepared tasted incredible (this is coming from a carnivore) and were very filling after a long day of activities. When going to Semuc Champey, make sure you take their takeaway lunch since the food options are limited and not the most gut-friendly at the park. The cabin is located on top of the mountain. This means that you will need to walk a solid 5 to 10 minutes to get there. The property is located in a Mayan village. It was a unique cultural experience hiking through the village and seeing the friendly Mayan people in their colourful clothes living their daily lives. I highly recommend hiking the 1 hour to the main road, then taking the public transit to Semuc Champey. It'll allow you to truly experience the local way and the beautiful nature. The place is around 30 minutes from where the bus drops you off. The roads are rough and only accessible by 4x4's. They can arrange transport to their property if needed.
✗ Nothing negative. Realize that you are in nature and insects do exist. Nothing is deadly, so there isn't much to worry about.
✓ The view and surrounding nature is very very beautiful! You feel very connected to nature. The sunrise was incredible - one of the most beautiful sunrises that we have ever seen. The outlook into the valley is gorgeous. Remy and Darina are very warm hearted and welcoming people who make your stay even more unforgettable. We did a chocolate tour with them on the property and we liked it a lot. The food was delicious and we had dinner together with nice talks. They also gave us enough space. The ride up to the mountain nest was adventurous. We really enjoyed our stay at mountain nest and we will come back one day.
✓ Beautiful property. Owners went above and beyond!
✓ this is probably the most iconic property that I have stayed in on a holiday. the views are incredible. the food is wholesome and fresh. the hosts are very warm and helpful.
✗ the location is a bit off beat which adds to the adventure. however, it’s not fun to tread through the mud trail when it rains.
✓ This is probably one of the top 10 most memorable places I've ever stayed! The location couldn't be beat. Super beautiful & peaceful. Darina and Remy have thought of everything to make your stay amazing (the kitchen is stocked, the fridge has cold beers, there are screens on the windows, homemade soap in the bathroom, shower with a million-dollar view, handmade furniture, tasteful decor, and a french press to make your own coffee when you wake up for the beautiful sunrise!)The chalet is set up for a super comfortable stay. The drive to get there was super rugged, then there's a walk on a dirt path to make it the last 5 minutes. This only adds to the remoteness of the place making it feel very exclusive to be here. I loved having the evening meal with our hosts, healthy food harvested from the garden, homemade bread, and chocolate. It was a privilege to stay. I only wish we could have stayed longer!
✓ I can only repeat what everybody else said. The views are amazing, the location is remote and suoer quiet. The house well equipped and Darina and Remy real sweethearts. I extended one more night and can totally recommend staying out there. Dont think about the money just go for it :-) its worth it!
✗ Keep in mind that its about 40 min outside of everything, which means min 1 hour walk to catch a ride or booking a private transport (from there to lanquin or semuc). So plan more time or some more expenses on transport.
