Excellent, exceeded my expectations. Would definitely stay here again.

✓ The couple who run the accommodation were incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and I like that you could choose how to set your bed up, I used 2 futon mattress for extra comfort. The AC in the room worked very well (essential for summer). The shower and toilet facilities were always very clean. Good location close to one of the main township parts, including the port and lots of shops and eateries. I hope I come back to Yakushima at some point and when I do I will definitely stay here. As everyone says, I would strongly recommend hiring a car for your stay as you won’t be able to see and experience the island to the full extent without one.

✓ My room was spacious. The shared spaces are clean and well kept. The location is quiet as it is off the main road, but within walking distance to bus station and a grocery store. The owners are very friendly and offered helpful suggestions for my itinerary. I enjoyed the breakfast and dinner and strongly recommend for those looking for traditional Japanese cooking and a taste of local dishes.

Excellent choice for a Japanese style stayover on Yakushima island!

✓ If you want a real authentic experience while traveling through Japan staying over at Yakunoyado Taguchi on Yakushima island is the way to go! The hosts are very friendly and accomodating, helping you with whatever questions you have, discussing your plans visiting Yakushima island, giving tips on what to see and what not. We suffered from jetlag arriving at Yakushima but either the island magic, the great futon beds or a combination of both made it disappear without a trace. Rooms are clean. There's two bathrooms equipped with a large bath and shower to be used by all guests. These are modern and also very clean! Make sure to book at least 1x Diner and Breakfast as these are very good!! As we weren't able to explore Yakushima to the fullest we'll definitely come back and book here again!

Incedible hosts and best stay ever on Yakushima!

✓ My friend and I had an incredible stay at Yakunoyado Taguchi! To begin, the hosts were so kind and accommodating for us even before we got off the ferry. When we had a question about renting a car on the island, the hosts helped reserve a car for us and also picked us up from the ferry port! The hosts also gave us the best recommendations for hiking trails, swimming spots, beaches and places to see monkeys and deer on the island. This rental was the best experience we’ve had on our whole trip and made Yakushima even better!

✓ Highly recommended! I had a wonderful stay in here. The location is in a quiet surrounding with minimalist style of accommodation which is comfortable, clean and well maintained! The breakfast and dinner are also amazing. The hosts, Shigeru and Hitomi are very helpful and they'll make sure that you have a great stay. They had also given me many insights and helped me whenever I have any doubts during my stay. Even before my stay, they were very quick with responding and assisted me. I really enjoyed my stay in here and Yakushima is really an amazing place. Thank you so much for your hospitality and generosity. I'm grateful for it.

✓ A nice guesthouse owned by a very friendly couple which is able to communicate in English and provided me with insightful tips for my stay at the island.

✓ The location is a bit far from cafe/restaurant area, the breakfast (not complimentary) prepared by the host was helpful to have a kick start of the day.

✗ There was no chair and no bed but flat mats on the floor. This arrangement was not comfortable.
