I loved staying here and would return even though it’s not cheap.

This is a stunning property in a beautiful location on the Western bank of the River Test surrounded by trout streams and rivers that cross and interlink through the village. The rooms are finely furnished and have real character. Facilities were ample and comfortable. The bar and restaurant are welcoming and very popular at lunchtimes and in the evenings with an impressive menu. The cooked breakfast was very good. The staff that I dealt with were friendly and helpful.

These are only small niggles but for over £200 that I paid, it’s worth mentioning. The room was generally clean but there was a fair bit of dust on side tables and mantelpiece which was surprising . The tea / coffee making facilities in the room were fine but the sachets of sugar were crystallised and solid, so I’m guessing they hadn’t been checked for some time.

Excellent food and wonderfully comfortable stay in a charming country pub

Comfortable, quiet, secluded accommodation and a truly excellent restaurant: I have fairly high expectations for country pubs and this exceeded them! Staff are friendly and welcoming.

Slight confusion over breakfast timings: I came down after the kitchen had closed but they did sort me out with a bacon sandwich. The internet is a bit ropey (expected, it's very rural).
